HISTORY WEEK DISPLAY October 2019
All the excitement and thrilling atmosphere of the historic Mount Tarrengower Hillclimb was able to be relived at the Maldon District Museum’s Hillclimb Display for History Week. The Museum has, as part of its collection, a fascinating selection of Hillclimb memorabilia, including photographs, posters and programmes dating from the 1930s. Thanks to a recent gift from a Maldon motoring enthusiast, the collection has been expanded significantly.
MALDON IN WINTER June – July 2019
Each Winter Marvellous Maldon puts on its woolly hat and scarf, and pulls together a program of interesting, engaging, entertaining and tasty activities to counter the Winter blues. Throughout Maldon in Winter visitors were invited to discover more about the ‘Maldon story’.
HERITAGE FESTIVAL April – May 2019
Maldon participated in Australian Heritage Festival 2019; the students’ faux plaques project; our Easter Procession Pictorial; and a session on revealing the hidden stories of your house are all presented against the backdrop of MALDON – NOTABLE TOWN IN SO MANY WAYS.
AUSTRALIA DAY EXHIBITION January 2019
Our volunteers have searched our collection in preparation for a super little display featuring Maldon’s cricketers. One, Bill Woodfull, was famous on the world stage and others were local heroes.
Sadly Maldon no longer fields a cricket team and the oval lies quiet during the summer months. The classic sound of leather on willow has gone and those balmy summer days of our childhood have changed, maybe forever.
The display includes several relatively recent photos of players whose names we don’t know – if you are able to help out our volunteers would love to hear from you.
