A display photographs and memorabilia from the early hotels and breweries of Maldon was used to tell some of their stories.

Royal Mail Hotel, Main Street, c1875

During Maldon’s early gold rush boom upwards of 60 licences were issued within five miles of the town centre.

These premises ranged from little more than beer houses through to accommodation, meals and entertainment venues providing a wide variety of entertainments. Some of the hotels had ballrooms, stages and dining rooms and many town functions would be held at a hotel.

At Maldon Urban Landcare Group’s 25th Anniversary lunch in October 2018, there was a poster display of MULGA’s work over the last 25 years.  The Maldon District Museum later hosted this display .  The display materials are now archived at the Museum for posterity.

Yet again we celebrated all the fun and glamour of the Easter Procession as it is reflected in the colour slides and photographs taken by local residents and which now form part of the Maldon image collection.

The procession has been a highlight of Maldon’s Easter Fair from the beginning. The floats are often quite topical and humorous, and always the subject of a great deal of planning, design and many hours of decoration by the entrants.

Our Easter Procession Pictorial is now a regular event on our exhibition calendar. Each year we have a super selection of new slides and photographs for your enjoyment.

The images on display are reprinted in large format so you can appreciate all their amazing detail and folders of images from past exhibitions will also be available for you to browse through.

You are invited to come along, relive old memories and help our volunteers to identify the people and organisations represented. Also let us know if you have old slides or photographs which we could copy or you would like to donate to our collection.
